Description: UPDATE: Kayla has finished her obedience training and is doing well. She's very toy and food motivated and would be an excellent candidate for agility or fly ball training. She is smart and eager and has a lot of energy. She'd be a great running partner or a wonderful companion to an active child. Kayla is still not compatible with cats though; she doesn't try to harm them, but she plays too rough for kitties. So a home with no cats is a must for this girl! She does well with other dogs and all people. She is an alert barker - so if someone is near your home or car, Kayla is going to let you know. She's a wonderful pup and so deserving of a family of her own.
UPDATE: We've had Kayla back in rescue for two weeks now and we've discovered one thing - SHE IS SCAREY SMART!! So to tap into Kayla's intelligence, we've decided to send her to school! For the next two weeks Kayla will be busy learning more obedience and other fun stuff at doggie boot camp! She's already super sweet and lovable, so getting additional training seems like the next step to making Kayla the perfect dog for some very lucky family! So if you're looking for a fully trained dog, who has an excellent temperment and is good with people, dogs and kids, Kayla may be the one for you!
Kayla is a very sweet 11 month old pup who was returned to us because her family no longer wanted her. We can't figure out why because Kayla is just the best girl! She only weighs about 30 lbs (and could stand to lose a couple!), she is crate trained, house broken, and doing very well with basic commands. Kayla's mom is a boxer/amstaff mix, and we have no idea who daddy was - but probably a smaller dog because Kayla is petite. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home and she LOVES people. She would do well in a home with another dog, or as a single dog with a family who will give her the love and attention she deserves.
